I Love to Write

in her eyes I am perfect
She is deceived by my smile
In her eyes, I see joy in the moment
Alas, my presence in her company is fleeting

Everyday she becomes stronger, smarter
More capable and impressive
Every day I grow weaker, dimmer
Less capable, I diminish

She knows me now as grandpa,
But someday she will know me as a memory
Her beauty will capture the world
Her success be unparalleled.

In her memory, I am perfect
My smile brighter than ever was
If I could see those eyes then. I would see Joy
Alas, my presence only a memory.

Lord, give me enough wisdom to become that perfect memory, in spite of this imperfect life.
My Grandfather passed when I was 13, he was and still is one of the most important men in my life. He wasn’t perfect, but he was as close as one could be in my eyes.

@DayDreaming2 I’m sorry you lost him at such a young age, but thank you for honoring his memory. My grandchildren are from 6 months to 6 years. They inspire me to be better. Your grandpa achieved that to have your love still.
