"One Step Up and Two Steps Back"


I've been doin' some self-reflection lately,
The man in the mirror is
Not who I want to be,
My personna has become ego driven,
And I'm not the man you seem to see.
Been movin' too fast in the wrong direction,
And now I need to adjust my
Recollection.
I'm going backwards, not forward,
And that's a fact,
Yeah, I'm movin' one step up and two steps back.

When a man, who seems to have it all,
Looses self-respect, he starts to fall,
Gotta get it together, and pick myself back up again,
Starting now, I must begin,
By putting my ego back in check,
And be the Man that I started out to be...
What the heck.
One foot forward, and two feet back,
Going nowhere fast, and that's a fact.

I've got a good lovin' woman by my side,
I need to love her with all my heart,
And all my pride.
I can be the man I want to be,
And prove to her,
And all to see,
Puttin' two steps forward,
Keepin' myself on track,
I'm done with one step up and two steps back.
