I Need to Rant

In the 1990s if you wanted to print a 1 page text document, you'd hit print and after about 30 seconds of machine gun sounds and screeching you'd have the paper in your hand.
Just now I sent a 1 page text doc to my "modern" "all in 1" printer using Windows 10 and it took.... 7 minutes.
7 F'ing minutes to print a prescription prepay cert. What the cluck?

Progress?

Sounds like you have a weird setup, a weird printer or a slow computer ;)
@Lucia Oh my computer is a POS all right, but it's not *that* bad!
It is plugged into the printer with a USB, but it sat there with its lights blinking for ages. Then just to tease me it would make whirring noises here and there.

@FairyGirlGemma LMAO. picturing you getting all teased by those noises...
how often do you print? it might have been spending time cleaning the ink heads. and how old is this printer? old school, impact, dot matrix printers were tanks. ink jets are flimsy little butterflies in comparison.
@stound Thanks, I'll try that!
@stound I used it again today and it was fast so you're right about needing to do stuff after sitting, thanks :)
@FairyGirlGemma if you do the occasional print to keep it clean, make sure you use an image that has all colors

Your computer can give me a healthy competition. When I click Google Chrome it takes 3/4 mins to load and 10-15 mins showing this browser isn't responding. And if I try to print or run any program, It's slower than the average time women take for makeup before going to party. 😕
Hmmm.... Maybe reinstalling your printer or updating the drivers would do the trick. You can find better drivers on the internet than what came on the install disc that came with the printer. I'd try going to the manufacturer's website and looking for new drivers.

7 mins?! :o Is this a regular thing? There could be something wrong with the computer >.>
Reigns · 31-35, M
@FairyGirlGemma Maybe you need to uninstall the printer drivers and do a fresh install of everything. It might help.
@Reigns I'll try that, thanks :)

@FairyGirlGemma Oh and close all other applications when you're printing. If your pc is old and slow, this might help. Good luck!

7 minutes? That's interesting 🤔.
@SubstantialKick Quirky is one word for it - this is my first Lenovo and definitely my last!!
@Lucia Lol yeah I was getting worried!
Lucia · 36-40, T
@FairyGirlGemma That's really peculiar. I have 3 of them. All of them have served me well.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
And if you have a slightly older printer,copier, scanner there are no drivers for it!
@Tastyfrzz Yup, that's why my faithful old HP Laserjet 1010 had to retire :(

Don’t you just miss the 90’s ?
@IamBack Yup definitely
the new gods hate you
@tara20tara20tara09tara05tara That's nice dear.

OMG I know right? I find printer troubleshooting to be more frequent and more difficult to solve in this “modern” age.
