[b][u]Cornered[/u]
See the loop over and over
How I want you from afar
From silence and the shadows
From the door left ajar

The mass of faceless bodies
As I peer across the distance
Insignificantly blur
And yield to my insistence

Just outside the spotlight
And attention that it spills
My Mind’s Eye takes a photo
A moment standing still

The celluloid of this movie
Burns from the light that exposes
Replaces the story desired
And deeper truth it deposes

Hear the music of the background
It’s a pulse, my beating heart
Accompanied by a rush of blood
Rhythmic stop and start

It halts each time I look at you
Its only purpose to begin
So that I may keep looking
Only to halt again

View this art of beauty and flesh
Of desire unconsecrated
Of joy revealed, but held far from me
To be promised, yet always belated

How sad you cannot see me
Cornered with adoration
From the shroud of pining silence
And transfixed fascination
