I Write Poetry

I wrote this some time after losing my grandmother. Its called Then There Was Silence..

The birds didn't make their trip down here that summer, as if they knew there was no place warmer than your heart ... as if they knew you were gone. And I still cant go into your house because my heart cant stand being there and knowing I wont hear you singing and laughing over your coal stove. In my darkest moments when I'm desperate for comfort I smell orchids on the breeze, you always smelled like blooming orchids and freshly baked scones. And I remember the last words you said to me "You should wear your hair short it makes you look like my granddaughter".
I cut it regularly .. I hope your're at peace now Ma.
