I write my emotions out while listening to music. Writing without thinking helps me eventually to see clearly, to know what was actually making me feel down or stressed.

Sometimes I read quotes that i have collected over the years on goodreads, they make me see from a different perspective.
@ethereal The writing sounds like a perfect technique to me. Oddly, I haven't used it as much as I need to. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Distraction. I watch a movie, read, go for a walk, clean, or organize things.
Sometimes, I go to sleep or listen to music as well.

I know what you mean.
I remember back when I sculpted, I used to find carving wood with gauge, arbitec or chainsaw great for using up anger. The forms I made bore no relationship to my feelings - ironically, they were all pieces for meditation, peace inducing.

@hartfire For me, the music is the aggression and the sculpting itself is the peace. I work in clay and i'm very methodical and gentle with my sculpting tools. The end result isn't usually pretty or peaceful, since i'm a halloween/horror maker

And then when sober, the reality comes crashing back in.

@empanadas I honestly can't see how that would work, but it's interesting to learn that that might be one of the reasons why hookers exist.
