I've been extremely depressed since my cat Mr Twinkie died a few days ago. I took him to the vet because he had stopped eating and drinking. I was in total shock when the vet told me had a tumor in his colon and had to be put to sleep. I stayed in the room and held him while he passed away. Then I had to go home an explain the loss to my kids. It was absolutely devastating.I think this is the hardest loss I've ever had to face by far in my life. A lot of people wouldn't understand that the loss of a pet can be as traumatic as the loss of a person unless you're a crazy cat lady like me. To me he wasn't just a cat he was my baby, my friend, a sibling to my kids, he was a family member. He was special and no one can take his place. I feel like a part of me has died. I will love and miss him forever. RIP Mr Twinkie you were a gift from heaven.
So sorry to hear about Mr. Twinkie. Never easy to lose a beloved pet no matter the circumstances. Our pets are most definitely family members. Years ago I had a Golden Retriever that developed tumors in her lymph nodes located in her neck. It was a very similar experience to what you described. Mr. Twinkie looks a little like my cat, Tibby. Tibby is short for Thibadeaux. His brother's name was Boudreaux and I called him Boo. Unfortunately Boo disappeared about 2 months after adopting them. just read your story. I know how you was feeling . Around the same time we had our cat put down. His name was Anthony he was 22 years old. very sad day.

Grieving for a beloved pet is normal. We love our pets. Sorry for your loss.
Our old cat died 2 years ago. I was devastated for weeks. She was like my shadow and I missed her like crazy! Still do sometimes, even now, even though we've got 2 new cats.
