I Abhor Stupidity and Ignorance

The US general public is increasingly ignorant about science, not because of a conflict between science and religion, but because wrong-headed and ignorant views about both are promoted by uninformed and uneducated fundamentalist Christians who are inclined to believe what they are told.

scientists say hating people who have different beliefs than you is ignorant and intolerant. lighten up.
@SusanInFlorida I don't understand "scientists say..." but I agree that there is never a reason to hate people who have different beliefs but I don't see where "hate" enters into this discussion nor do I understand the reference to ignorant and intolerant. I raised a matter of implied fact (not belief) that there is no fundamental disagreement between science and religion, but that does not mean that there are not fundamental disagreements between some religious beliefs (for example, biblical literalists) and real science and/or history. Oh, btw, I am neither ignorant nor intolerant, lol, except that I guess I am intolerant of ignorance, one example of which is objections to scientific or historic fact by assertion of religious beliefs that are irrelevant.
btw, I deleted a comment by someone who resorted to name-calling and insult rather than discussion. You can disagree with me by making genuine arguments but I am intolerant of those who think name-calling is an appropriate way to discuss issues.

"uninformed" and "uneducated" are descriptive terms for views that do not accept basic scientific approaches to reality. Calling someone "stupid" or "ignorant" who disagrees with you is name-calling.
