I Express Myself Through Writing

I think in American culture, there is a stigma behind living with your parents when you are 18+. And even though I hate that, for someone who still lives with their parents, I try not to worry about what people think. Because like me not everyone does this on purpose, in this day and age, renting an apartment can be expensive. Life is not what it use to be, as my older family members have stated time and time again. From what I've gathered from them, rent was inexpensive and things were cheaper than they are now. Furthermore, with how crazy people can be these days, not many want to risk splitting the rent with someone they hardly know. Aside from that, there have been plenty of times where I wish I could pack up my things and live on my own, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices until things get better.

I’m 22 and still live with my parents. It’s just way more cost effective until I finish college and can work full time to support myself more in order to get my own place.

Yea, that stigma is dying out. Not sure where you live but in many immigrant cultures(my city has many) this is normal and expected. Life is expensive and ppl are now getting the many great benefits of living with family.
The part that still carrys some stigma is if you are a loser like no life, mommy pays all bills, parents clean your room etc.
You must be a well functioning adult who helps and contributes to their family then I think staying home is cool.
