I Love Harry Potter

Do you remember the Shipping wars between Roniome and Harmony?

I only caught wind of what was going on when it was too late to actually interact with most of the fandom and comfort them largely because during the shitstorms that were breaking out I was far more focused on politics and trying to win debates and score pints online which I considered far more important than something as silly as a shipping war.

But Something broke in me after I reviewed what happened. That Shit got NASTY. Like I mean VICIOUS.

and you had people psychoanalyzing each other left and right over their shipping preferences and saying things to people who were on the side of the debate that I was on like:

that's gross, they're like brother and sister.

You're immature, you have unrealistic notions of romance

You're delusional

So much so that somebody created the handle militant delusionalist for the two of them and essentially wed themselves to that position in fanfictions and such.

You see I was the loathed Harmony shipper and they hated us with so much venom that it's kind of comical to think back on.

But you know the funny part? Maybe you COULD read in between the lines of my preferring Harry and Hermione.

There were things in the subtext of that.

I prefer my relationships without a lot of fueding.
I'm tired of feeling like I owe girls an apology for having feelings for them.
I'm straight forward romantically when I'm into somebody I'll come straight out and tell them.
I'm not internally conflicted. I'm not the type to fall in love and yet be too too embarassed to admit how I really feel.
I am quiet PROUD of the women who have granted me the privilege of being with them.

That's all there.

And you know what? Me and Lyssa? We are harmonious. Even when we clash we do it very gently.

I don't have unrealistic expectations it's just that relationships haven't really been hard for me and I don't tend to fight with my lover...

From her to me, So much for unrealistic romantic expectations eh?

I just thought that JK Rowling did a shit job of portraying relationships. They came out of nowhere and were described terribly. I personally preferred Harry/Hermione but at the end it could have gone Hermione/Grawp and I would’ve been fine with it lol

@Longpatrol Agreed! Tonks and Lupin is a big example of this. We are given no heads up that he is even interested in Dora, or seen any chemistry between them. Bill and Fleur? We get one scene in St. Mungos that she is interested in Bill Weasely romantically. I get that the books are (mostly), in Harry's pov, but the readers needed some indications that characters had romantic sparks between them.

@enigmaticangel38 Harry was mostly oblivious to his own romantic life, but most of us are so it’s quite normal. However, we pick up nuances in the interactions of other people quite often. So it would have made more sense for these relationships to have developed over the course of the books then “off screen” Let me not get started on the “green chest monster” I thought Harry needed a trip to St Mungos lol
