Now that Covid is appearing to wind down I wanted to express how great the lst year was.
Despite Covid, the curfews and lockdowns, and all the loss of life that we experienced this past year, I have to take time to reflect on how positive that particular period of time has been for me.
Last year all these great things happened to me:
1. Got my dream job.
I was an apprentice handyman and now I'm getting paid well for my work. I was able to acquire the necessary tools for my trade (Stimulus check) and am working now (albeit part time) in a profession I truly love: Remodeling homes and businesses.
2. Got a place of my own.
It's a small apartment but no more housemates!!! Whoo-hoo! I can do what I want when i want. My last place had no privacy. Wood floors and thin walls made it so one could hear [i]everything [/i] going in various parts of the house.
I'm so happy to have a place of my own.
3. Got my driver's license and a car.
Due to a medical condition I lost my license some years ago. I have fully recovered and was able to obtain my license and a reliable vehicle (2015 Toyota Rav 4) This was immensely helpful for work... no longer had to depend on rides. I don't miss riding across town on my bicycle or taking the bus either.
4. I've progressed in the mental health program I've been in and am almost out of it.
I had a mental break some years ago. Did some time in a state hospital. But I've progressed quickly through the subsequent transition program and am due to "graduate" next year.
5. Met a significant other online.
Well, to be honest, during Covid I met A LOT of people online. Many here. Some of those turned into very rewarding relationships that continue today. But one in particular has really taken off. We've been in contact for over a year and are planning on meeting soon. We haven't met earlier due to work constraints on her part, and a restriction on traveling on mine (part of the program I'm in... no traveling due to Covid). But things are looking up!
It's been a very exciting online relationship.
So there you have it. A great year... and the future looks bright as well.
