I came a cropper on the phone

Couple of days ago I answered the phone to an obvious scam or annoying sales call, and I was ready for it. Something to do with my insurance for stuff I haven't got.
"I'm glad you've called," I said. "Tell me, have you let Jesus into your life?“
They usually hang up at that point. But this one wanted me to tell him about Jesus. And I regret to say so but I was quite tongue-tied about how to continue. If I'd thought ahead, no doubt I could have come up with something suitably fanatical but I had nothing. Nada. Zilch
I keep getting someone saying i understand you have been involved a car accident. i mostly hang up but last week i played along. I said yes it was terrible the car was a right off and there was blood every where. Ho my she said was you badly hurt. Yes i said i was killed

@nevergiveup I enjoy misunderstanding those, and sounding shocked when I ask if he or she is alright, which hospital are they in, did they survive, was the plane or car or balloon a write off, etc. And going into bereaved widow mode "oh I'm too young to be a widow"

I will have to remember this one. Usually I screen my calls to avoid them. Once and awhile I end up talking with a scammer.

Usually I answer how would you like to waste my time. I haven’t had many spam calls recently so I may be getting rusty.

Might have been the perfect time to practice talking in tongues

🤣This makes my dreams as a future scambaiter bright.
