Cassette tape and a pencil

My mother taught me the critical relationship that once existed between a cassette tape and a pencil.
Was the key to keep things working properly.

i ran across my old cassette tapes not too long ago. Sadly I have nothing to listen to them on.

@TwiddlerofThumbs Sometimes at thrift stores you can find cassette players. DO make sure they at least work though, about 1/2 the time they do not.
Even if you cannot test for sound output, if the transports system seems to work, it is probably fine.

Even on ebay sadly, 1/2 of the decks they sell are messed up but at least they list them as "parts or not working".
@CestManan Thank you for the idea!! I think I will go see if I can find one this afternoon ( hopefully).

@TwiddlerofThumbs Something that is strictly a cassette deck would need to be hooked to a receiver though. Some may have a headphone jack but conveniently, no volume control.

I say just keep an eye out for them. If you were any where close to me I would just give you one of mine

Of course a lot of slightly older bookshelf stereo systems have a cassette player built in.

Nothing worse than when the tape would get completely tangled inside the machine though.

You could use gravity to rewind the tape by spinning the tape. I did that numerous.

A pencil is not big enough to actually catch the splines very well.
