I Have Something to Say

My uncle is getting out of prison next month. I'm really happy for him and I'm going to see him, I'm just afraid he'll be upset I haven't seen him since I turned eighteen two years ago.

I wanted to, but never learned how to get on the visitors list. And 2/3rds of the times my family went to visit him I wouldn't get let inside anyway.

Then I couldn't write or call him because I live with my mom, and she would kill me if she knew I had any contact with him 😅 (it was my dad who took me to see him)

Not that any of this is an excuse, I'd be upset in his shoes.

Write him a letter now and tell him you are looking forward to seeing him again, that it will be great to have your uncle back in your life.

@Summergirly He had a problem with hard drugs and I know he stole a car or two- they belonged to relatives though so I don't know if he got charged for that?

@contrails I know him more than my other uncles, at least. But that's not saying much 😂 he just has a good presence, he's done his time and deserves to be out.

But yeah, I don't know what he's going to do now that he's leaving. I hope someone's taking him in- my dad was going to but he moved out of state :/

@IntenseCookie "Some other things"... Yep, no one gets 23 years for stealing a car... but good for you that you're cool with it, frankly I thing the #1 thing we would need to get back to "normal" life is trust/love of people "outside"... a very rare thing these days... particularly for someone who had been in jail for a long time, I guess...
