I Have Something to Say

Is it possible to fall in love with two individuals at the same time?
Instinctively, we will brush off the question by labeling it as inability to rein in lust.
This isn't about lust. This is about finding two people, who have polar opposite traits and falling in love with that contrast in personality. I experienced this painful thing. Painful because the socially mandated monogamous relationship is deeply ingrained in my psyche. I fail to make peace with my feelings and social expectations.

When you are in true love for someone, you get a much joyful feeling more than just peace and the feeling is without any confusions. In other words, when you love from your heart, there are no no confusions, but when you get attracted to someone on the basis of what you perceive about them in your mind, your mind may have confusion as regard to different perceptions.

It is easier to get attracted to more than one person. You can even have feeling of love for two people. But when it comes to choosing your better half/life partner, with whom you would love to see yourself getting old and spending few last years of your life; most people can filter out the possibilities to that one person.

@ABCDEF7 True. Full disclosure I have a life partner already. This other individual appealed to me in a sense that he is polar opposite of hubby dearest in terms of personality. Not saying my significant other is an asshole, but I liked the way both of them are different yet appealing at the same time.

@ChocolateBhavaa Having a close male friend along with your hubby is neither immoral nor guilty conscience as far as you treat both relationships with fairness and in true sense, respecting their boundaries and faith.

But your confusions/pain/distress suggests you're not clear about above aspects of your both relationships.

It's difficult but better to have clarity in relationships.

In my experience it’s difficult to fall in love with 1 person. I’d say it’s very rare if it happens.

To be attracted to two people at the same time is possible but loving two people deeply on the same level? I can't imagine myself being in that situation. I may have loved two people at the same time but on different notes. Like a friend and romantic interest and that's it.

I think I had that at some point of my life. In love to two men at the same time. Both of them new the situation. But I can’t stay that way for a long time so I made a decision to choose one from the other. And I don’t think it’s fair for both either. You have to take one and have the other move on.
