I Have Something to Say

Sadness crept up on padded feet
And curled three times
And settled in her lap,
Fuzzy and warm and purring.

She let Sadness lie there quiet,
Furry and comfortable,
Nuzzling her into the night
Nuzzling her into the Night.

The darkness beckoned
The Sadness purred
And she drifted almost away
She drifted away
Almost.

Then dawn broke
It shattered; It splintered
Into a billion shards of radiance
That hovered and surrounded
And enveloped her,
Infused her with its hope,

And Sadness leapt
And bounded away
Skittering into nothingness
It's comfort forgotten,
It's spell broken,
As she faced the Light
As she faced the Light.

You know what I like about this? Your image of sadness as this tame, purring animal, while the light is almost rude, invasive and assertive.

Maybe next time she's visited by sadness, she can comfort [i]it[/i] instead.

@SW-User I think everybody looks at sadness or depression like a monster but i think for most people it comes in and settles and ever so slowly and subtly pulls them down and down and down without them even knowing it's happening.

But happiness is like a burst and bright and you wonder where the heck it came from.
