I Am a Teacher

I love this

Also I myself sleep an average of 4 hours on a school night and between 5-7 on weekends and during the summer. I know the struggle is real.

Happy summer break teachers!

Thank you teacher, and all teachers, for what you do. 🍎

I've done well in my life and career, and I really do owe all of that to a few good teachers from my school days. The ones who were able to reach inside of me and give me the motivation to live up to my potential.

I suspect that even though you are all off on summer break now, you're not fully off work. As no professional is ever truly off duty. But enjoy whatever break you all can get this summer as you deserve it.

My mom was a teacher for early childhood (Montisorri) up until the day she died. I remember how much she loved/hated her summer breaks

@Jephy: Sounds like your mom was an excellent teacher. I have the same relationship with summer.

@hami1091: She was phenomenal. I don't think she slept much during the summer, especially with my sister and I who were free spirited 😝 (sorry mom).

Good for you =) (The teaching part- not the not sleeping part) People don't realize how important good teachers are.

@Laifu1: Thank you! :)

Due to stress before I quit student teaching, I think I was maybe getting 6 hrs a night. As someone who has always needed her sleep, this was not good. and was working with a group of students whose needs I'd never worked with, and as Hami knows, had an unhelpful mentor teacher. My professor helped me problem solve something, and charge my chair. Then, upon hearing drinking makes me sleepy, ordered me to go home, have a drink and go to bed. I salute those of you who can survive on little sleep.

Happy Summer Break! 😊

@MrsKatherineArch: Thanks ☺

@hami1091: Isn't it nice to look forward to not having to get dressed up every morning? #beingabum

At least teachers only work 10 months, get three weeks off during the year, numerous sick days, excellent medical and incredible pay
Fauxmyope2 · 26-30, F
@BlueRain: Incredible pay? Teacher's income has been decreasing significantly in terms of real dollars after inflation.
BlueRaine · 51-55, F
But their annual salary is for 10 months. It's excellent and good for them.
Fauxmyope2 · 26-30, F
@BlueRain: If it's so excellent, why are so many teachers leaving the profession these days and so many fewer college students choosing to enter the profession? It's ONE of the many reasons.

this is true for the students as well lol, we barely get 6 hours
hami1091 · 41-45, F
@MartinTheFirst: My teenagers are just as bad at not wanting to sleep, they tend to sleep better when I turn off the wireless router and take away their phones. I guess I just bore them to death, poor kids! But I always had a bad sleeping pattern, so I can understand.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@hami1091: lol, well soon enough I bet they wont even have a choice in the matter.
