I Like Dogs

I like dogs, no I love dogs (My wife and I have one ourselves)...but dog ownership requires responsibility. A dog that doesn't have the proper training and it's owner doesn't take responsibility then a dog can become a nuisance and even a problem. It's not the dog's fault, dogs are just dogs and that all they know how to be. For the last 4 or 5 days there was this dog that appeared out of seemingly nowhere, had no idea where it came from and had never seen it before. It had a harness on it but no tags, and nobody living around us knew where it came from or who owned it either. Anyway this dog would come into everyone's yard annoying their dogs and it would mark it's territory everywhere (it pissed on our porch when we weren't out there and if we were it would bark at us constantly on our own property...actually did this to everyone on the block) We called animal control because we assumed that either someone had lost the dog or that it had just been dumped in our neighborhood. We couldn't take our dog outside to go to the bathroom, we couldn't even go outside ourselves without that dog barking relentlessly. Animal control came yesterday and caught the dog. He took it to the local shelter and they placed an ad on their website last evening trying to see if they could find who this dog belonged to. Everything was peaceful again...until just a little while ago. I had our dog outside and he was just getting ready to do his business when I heard that familiar barking again...it was back! Our dog nearly choked himself trying to get at that other dog and I had to pick him up and carry him back into the house. You've got to be f**king kidding me! Obviously someone here does own that dog, went and got it at the shelter this morning and then turned it loose again. I called animal control again and they said they would contact the shelter to see if they could find out who owns the dog and they would go and speak with the owner. I hope it works this time because we shouldn't have to feel like hostages on our own property because some dog owner won't abide by city ordinances.

I agree. Anyone that chooses to have an animal under their care needs to accept the responsibility of care, safety, and training, etc. Otherwise they have no business having a pet. It's why I'm more a plant person then an animal person...because it is alot of responsibility.

I was very worried and skeptical when my boyfriend and I got a puppy this winter, but we've both been good about being fully committed to making the pet thing work out and be both onboard for helping with any aspect of health, grooming, walkies, training, safety, etc, etc... In fact it's been great.

@Scribbles Dogs aren't really as hard to deal with as people like to make out...and the effort is worth it.
Some dog owners dislike responsibility
