I Support Gay Marriage [Gay Marriage]

One of my coworkers was breaking up with the mother of his children as I was going through my divorce. The kids were about the same age, and the relationship had lasted about as long as mine. His only expense was child support. My expense was for child support plus 30% of my income for the rest of my life, 75% of our shared assets, and several extras.

People get upset when I say I do not support gay marriage, but, please understand, I do not support marriage in any form. The devastation the government inflicted on me for laws that did not even exist at the time I signed up for this is more than anyone should experience.

Instead of giving gays equality in a good form, we did them a horrible disservice. We should have ended all government involvement in our relationships.

I agree 100% I know too many men that have gotten royally screwed. I will never do it again!

@Mbingh01 I also know a school teacher that is paying her ex alimony. He could work, but he chooses not to.
So just because your marriage didn't work out, no one else should have the benefit of it? Thanks, Adolf.
I gather you're not in a no-fault state?

@Mamapolo2016 Illinois is a no-fault state. All that means is the low earner does not need a reason to punish the high earner.
@IronHamster It's been a long time since I heard a story like that.

30% of your income for the rest of your life ? Seriously?
IronHamster · 56-60, M
@AliceTinker The marriage lasted long enough that the penalty is permanent. My lawyer tried to explain that it is only until she cohabitates or remarries, but, she did not want to fuck me for twenty-five years, and what incentive does she have to remarry when she is being paid so lucratively to not fuck?
