Spending the year teaching adult grown-ass people to use better English.

@xmedleft One of the most selfish word in the world "I"
xmedleft · 51-55, M
???
What is that sequitir to at all?
I mean like this "welcome 2018 with a grate sex"
should be
welcome 2018 with [c=#800000]GREAT[/c] sex.
and other errors.

@xmedleft Thank the gods for people like you.

@ninjavu You don't have to sugar it up, I know we are sneered at. It ain't glorious work, but it's purposeful. In a world where people can just throw letters and sounds around and get angry at OTHERS for not understanding their unclear message -- my breed is the balance, the restorer of peace, the preserver of the human heritage of communication.

@xmedleft You may not realise this, but the Internet is used worldwide by many people for whom English is not their native language. English is just one of thousands of languages used worldwide. Assuming the OP speaks another language natively, that means that she speaks more languages than you do which, by one metric, makes her a hell of a lot smarter than you.
xmedleft · 51-55, M
@ninjavu And you assume much as well. She coulda written this in her native language if she wanted to -- and perhaps done a damn fine job of it. Or else English is her native language and she like others in the texting, emailing world doesn't care about clarity of communication and just likes blah blah blahblah where other people can see/hear it. In fact I'd bank that that's more likely the case because whenever I correct someone who is learning English -- well they usually write stuff on the English speaking web to get the practice, and so when they're corrected like that they usually change what their story says because they treat being corrected as a learning opportunity.
Which is unlike Americans who just don't give a damn about learning anymore, but wonder why they get dragged down the street by extra-national influences AND domestic crazies alike.
So yeah, I think I've pegged it; not only is this her primary, albeit sorely abused, language, but she's probably an American because there's really only one sort of English speaker I've met with worse care for their verbal clarity than Americans and that's Brits. Her writing wasn't bad enough to be a Brit.
And just so you know that you can take your "hell of a lot smarter than you" and stuff it in your "speaks more languages than you". I speak German with acceptable fluency, but you don't see me writing most of my stories in German because I know I'd embarrass myself eventually. Oh I do occasionally dabble in it, to get my practice in, but usually under the waiver that I might cop an error here or there.

@xmedleft "... coulda ..."? I stopped reading after that.
xmedleft · 51-55, M
@ninjavu fair enough. Maybe next time you'll stop reading even sooner.
Tanoos · 41-45, F
@ninjavu 👏👏👏👏😊
xmedleft · 51-55, M
@ninjavu Careful about @Tanoos I read her last message as she has the clap.
Justme5969 · 61-69, M

xmedleft · 51-55, M
