Do women and girls feel exposed at the beach?

I remember when I was 5 and was clothed to the knees in board shorts at the beach, as males usually are. And I was wondering why my three sisters, who would scream if I saw them in underwear at home, were all happily running around in bikinis at the beach.

It’s a bit weird, I know, but it’s all about context. Being in a bikini is fine at the beach, even topless in just a thong, but I’d feel very uncomfortable going to a nearby shop wearing almost nothing!

Yes!!!! This is why I don't wear them if I wanted to go out in my bra and underwear I would lol that's not my goal. I buy the tank top ones and try for a skirt bottom or shorts bottom

Depends on how sturdy they are. Like if it's one of those flimsy ones held together with string, I'd feel exposed, or anxious about accidentally being exposed, but a good one is fine.

I think it differs from person to person. I never put my girls in bikinis and they don't wish to wear them as adults either.
