I Hate Being Lied to

I was in a relationship for a little over a year that was based on nothing but lies. From the beginning right up to the tragic end and the messed up thing is, I got the truth or what seemed like the truth from the last person I would have expected, which is a huge shame. Like anyone else I was looking for companionship online and I figured by going to top rated sites that I would meet someone genuine. I met someone who seemed genuine and the very first lie he told me before we even met was that he was looking companionship, someone to love, and someone to spend his life with. Later on, I found out he was just looking for females to sleep with for free. Afterwards, it just became a habit to him and I would catch him in his lies and until I asked him "Why lie?" and his response was "I hate lying but I don't want you to get hurt and/or be mad at me." I told him "Well what do you think will happen when you lie."
