non religious people only........ do you think the bible was just a fiction book that became so popular that people actually thought it was true?

As an atheist, i believe that the bible is a load of horse shit..but in all seriousness, what i do know is it's not meant to be taken literally by the people who do believe. It is all metaphorical. How people came to beleive in this irrational bs is beyond me

It was an early attempt of explaining how we got here and what our purpose is, ect... basically, yeah, it's now a book of fairy tales, though this jesus fellow did have a few nice things to say about brotherly love, and kindness, and not judging people, and such.. somehow though, the religion which became of it all have long lost their way.

Yes, the bible is just a rehash of every religious story ever told since the beginning of mankind. Every era and culture had its "God", whether it was in the form of the sun, a rock, trees, Jesus, etc.
The stories are all identical, just the idol to be worshiped changes.

The Bible is a mixture of myth, history, customs and prophecy. A lot of the history would be fairly accurate. The rest is BS...
