What has this pandemic taught you?

It taught me to trust my instincts. I learnt a lot of other life lessons too.

I'm curious as to whether this period brought out some positivity despite everything happening all over the world. Kindly share if you felt a positivity in your lifestyle or if you've learnt something new about yourself.

To never take relationships and people in your life for granted,😔because tomorrow they could be gone. I do what I can for the people around me NOW, I don't put off showing how much I care anymore. 🥰 I'll do some good for someone TODAY. ⭐️
Peaches · F
@Beatbox34 If I can help lighten the load in any way, 😌💓I'm glad and it's a good day!🌥️🌹🕊️ Thank you for best comment.

@Peaches You are a good person and you deserve this.

Sheep will believe anything as long as the media tells them.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@curiosi Like disinfectants and UV light injections? 🙈
1. How much I love this woman who is the love of my life. We are separated across the world by a travel ban and locked borders.

2. That I am only as secure and safe as the most selfish and ignorant around me.

3. That history repeats itself because we don’t learn. We did all the same things during the 1918 epidemic— down to winging about masks and social isolation.

4. People will reject any amount of evidence and science if they have something they are committed to believing.

5. Most everyone is committed to speaking in euphemisms about everything.

6. We have created a way of life where idling the economy is not an option. And we have created a way of life where being quiet and still is not an option.

That face masks could become a fashion statement.
Amazing!
Dlrannie · 31-35, F
@Nimbus Except the USA where some people have stupidly turned it in to a political issue rather than a medical one
Nimbus · M
@Dlrannie I have to agree with you.

Yes...seeing deserted streets of NYC...made me value the presence of people. Whereas bumping into constant crowds used to be annoying.The new ghost city...gave me some weird goose bumps. I did not know I wouldn't like this emptiness, despite of being a loner.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@SW-User I feel that. I mean I used to hate being in crowded places but seeing it deserted brought in a completely different perspective for me.
SW-User
@Beatbox34 same. This emptimess...is just too creepy. I want everybody back
@SW-User Such is the basis of horror stories, some, anyway...

But...THAT IS CALLED FICTION FOR A REASON. NO ONE ACTUALLY WANTS HORROR FICTION TO BECOME REAL.
It's brought out the good in some people and the inner selfish arsehole in others.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@FairyGirlGemma Lol I agree and I've met some a-holes.

For me it's a bit different.

I've seen the true colors of people come out in this period. Something they've been hiding for years and maybe decades. Maybe it's because they feel it's gonna end so let's be ourselves now and yolo.
Nothing much new, but it's emphasized seriousness of some issues:

~ the prevalence and dangers of fake news & the need for an effective and widespread means of counteracting and reducing it. It think it should be made illegal to publish information that can be proven to be false.

~ The extraordinary blindness and danger of people who choose to believe something that is untrue because it allows them to feel more comfortable. I think this could be addressed in primary school and upwards, continually throughout all aspects of education.

~ How well some communities pull together and help each other when there's an emergency and they take the science seriously.

~ When seeing how well the most successful countries coped, it's clear that collective action could save us from the worst effects of climate change within twelve years if the will of all governments could be gained.

~ Tremendous advances are being made in epidemiology due to the increased funding of research.

~ It may prove a very good thing if international trade drops and more countries become self-sufficient for essential items. It would certainly help boost local employment.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@hartfire Well put points. I agree with them.
@Beatbox34 Thank you! :)
It only has reinforced my knowledge on how vicarious society is.

Yeah...I won't say anything more.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@Amyrakunejo I believe you and I have seen that for myself as well.
UpForItNow · 22-25, F
I'd been social distancing for years. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

I’m in South Florida. So far so good@Aliveshock
@Chevy454 id you call 1/4 of all tested to be positive good, I’m sure that makes you a hot spot of the world for the virus.
Chevy454 · 46-50, M
I meant for me and anyone I know. All these idiots are lining up in their cars for hours and hours to get tested when they feel fine. I don’t get it. @Aliveshock
People are fools and will label anything as a conspiracy theory without doing any research on it.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@latinbutterfly I agree.

I was watching the news today and an idiot was arrested because he claimed to have cured covid lol. He was running a scam.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
I'm enjoying the clean air. And I am more at peace with myself than in a very long time.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@greenmountaingal I felt the same.

I live in one of the most polluted cities on earth and given that factor at least 60 percent of the people living in the city have damaged lungs.

When the lockdown was in effect, I noticed clearer skies and how the lockdown had an impact on the environment.
UpForItNow · 22-25, F
How quickly the environment recovers during an anthropause.

Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@Platinum I agree.

That the population as a whole urgently need a better scientific education, even in western countries. Ignorance and idiocy are the biggest catalysts of this pandemic, unfortunately.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@Elessar Sadly the problem now is even education can't save people.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Beatbox34 Eventually it will, maybe not with this pandemic but with the next emergency. It's better to start late than never.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@Elessar I agree but maybe in due time they'll understand before it's too late.

I'm surprised as to how people still think it's a joke.
That I can’t bake, that working remotely makes me very happy and no, I don’t miss a single coworker, that certain people aren’t taking this seriously enough and finally, that my cat really doesn’t want me around this much.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@DecafD Lol I'm with you on that.
jackson55 · M
Never let a good crisis go to waste.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
Beatbox, you would probably get a lot out of reading this book:

The Gift of Fear
by Gavin DeBecker
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@greenmountaingal Thank you. I shall give it a read.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@Beatbox34 It's the best non-fiction book I've ever read. It's about learning to follow your instincts, and it's also about how bad guys think, how to handle people who won't let go etc.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
Protect yourself earlier and more thoroughly than anyone recommends at the beginning. And you cant overestimate the stupidity of some people.😷
I don’t like hippy hair!!

That nothing good comes from a paranoid mind.
That fear makes people unstable. Probably a statement of the obvious, but there’s nothing like seeing it ‘up close and personal’. 😒

@UserUnavailable I agree with you.

People are selfish. I personally use a mask because my mother is a senior citizen and I don't want to give her the disease but at the same time I wouldn't want to spread it to anyone else.

If we can't do something good for the society then we should not do anything at all.

Just before the lockdown, I read that a man had traveled abroad and spread the disease to 800 people including his own mother who didn't make it in the end.

It's small actions that go a long way but sadly the safety of others is in our own hand as well. I wish people would understand this and not be selfish about it.
