Do you believe we're coming out of the epidemic or is the worst yet to come?

Today Mike Pence said: “I truly do believe that if we all continue to do that kind of social distancing and other guidance broadly from federal and state officials, that we’re going to put this coronavirus in the past. I believe by early June we’re going to see our nation largely past this epidemic."

But leading infectious disease expert Michael Osterholm said two days ago we're only in the second inning of a nine-inning contest, with the possibility of as many as 800,000 deaths or more in the US over the next 18 months.

Who do you believe? Who can you believe?

These things do have a habit of getting a 'second wind' or mutating at a later date

@Quizzical I think we’re being presented with a “best case scenario” by Pence and a “worst case scenario” by Osterholm.
We really need to see how it plays out....and I don’t believe either of them knows for sure what will happen.
@DragonFruit True. Nobody knows. Even the experts and "the experts."

@DragonFruit I don't think ANYONE realy knows what's going on... hell, we don't even know accurate figures on infection levels and therefore on mortality rates either 🤷‍♂️
I think more shit will hit the fan before November..
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout . . . and after, into the winter, unfortunately.

I think we won't really know one way or another until fall. I want to believe we won't be dealing with this shit in the fall but history has shown with pandemics that the second waves can be worse. I am hoping that we will come up with some good treatment protocols and that everyone will come together to stop the spread worldwide.
In matters of diseases and medical concerns I’d go with the assessment of the expert rather than a politician who is probably more concerned about getting re-elected and telling voters what he thinks they want to hear. 🙁
@bijouxbroussard Don't drink the Lysol! 🤣 (Could you freaking believe that?)
@flipper1966 I’m almost less surprised by him saying it than by the fact that anyone would take him seriously enough to actually do it. 😳

It comes in waves. If we lose focus the worst is yet to come. Otherwise it will likely be more of the same.
