When you're ready to pull the trigger on a hot stock tip but you've never done it before, how long does it take to get money out of the bank?

Well I would caution any "hot stock tip" unless your a US Senator....I believe the settlement is T + 2 meaning the funds are usually available 2 days after you've covered the transaction. You buy it today - you have 2 days to pay for it, you sell it, again as long as you paid for it you can withdraw the funds in 2 days however....If you just go in and buy 1000 shares of some crap stock that sky rockets overnight...that raises red flags...I'm sure there's an experienced (bored) day trader or two on here. If your going to open up a securities account w/a reputable firm, they'll want to know certain information (your financial status, etc)...Just saying you cant walk into Edward Jones and say "hey dude, buy me 1000 shares of XYZ...I got a hunch"...don't forget they'll charge commission too...proceed w/caution my friend!
And into your brokerage account? A day if you do ACH
@RandomForest if it's a fresh account you may need to wait more. You can also buy on margin if you are desperate. But I suggest you don't.
