Meditation?

If you are practicing meditation, how do you keep your motivation? When do you do it? Any positive results that you could emphasize?

Look at “yoga nidra” on YouTube. It’s a sleep meditation and you can practice it every night quite easily✨ @sumojumo

Yes, I meditate. Years ago I started by listening to tapes. I had a 2 hour dental appointment this week. I loathe having dental work done.
When finished, my dentist asked me if I was meditating. It really surprised me that he could tell. He thanked me for making his work “easy.” Best wishes sent your way. 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠

I know when I don’t practice my mental health isn’t so good which is why I practice everyday. I think I’d say it helps with anxiety and clarity I’d empathise those points.

I think meditation is a positive tool for a lot of people. Have known people who swear by it and for who it has been more or less a lifechanger. But I don't think it is the right thing for everyone.

I've given multiple attempts over a period of time more than once to teach myself basic meditation. Didn't feel relaxed, at ease, clearer nor any kind of "improvement" after any of the session.

A fair few years later I tried guided mindfulness for a few months (don't remember exactly how many, but long enough). For me it just made things worse, increased my unease, raised levels of frustration and stress, and (albeit only for a short period of time) essentially shut down mental filters that help prevent me from overloading and that keep me sane.

Meditation is a great tool for many people, and I think it is worth at least giving it a try for anyone who may consider it. However, it is not for me.

@PirateMonkeyCabinet that is great feedback, yes, people are different and it is good to know that if you fail it might not be your fault, maybe it is just not a thing suited for your particular problems

@sumojumo I'm glad it was useful feedback 😊 We are indeed all different, and like most things it does seem to have a different effect on people.

I don't want to condemn it, for while it wasn't the right thing for me it clearly works for a lot of people.

If you give it a go, what others have highlighted is quite important: consistency. It is something that must be learned and like most skills requires practice to reach its potential.
