Why do we all focus so much on what makes us upset?

YouCanCallMeDan · 41-45, M
Because we don’t want to be happy. We want to be miserable so that we can strive for happiness. If we were happy then what would we strive for?

@YouCanCallMeDan I see your point.
I could argue that enough negative shit comes from the things that happen to us each day/week/month/year...
Shouldn't that be enough to drag us down to where we can strive for happiness again?
Need we stew in the middle of traffic, or rage against our wives for not doing this or the other? Are we that desperate for misery?

@SW-User when I feel happiness it can be overwhelming and intense. I’d rather keep it that way than become conditioned to it and not appreciate it. Can’t appreciate the light without the dark
We have to talk about our feelings. If we discuss these things, it is easier to let them go. It is healthy. We can solve our problems. Because pain strikes us harder.

I try to focus on being grateful these days. Once you hit 50 reality of death is a big sucker punch !

Probably because we do little to change it. Ignoring it doesn't make it go away, it's still right where you left it.

Because it's like a puzzle. The feeling so heavy it is hard to shake off.
Fuels the emotions more!

@EugenieLaBorgia But why would we want to fuel a fire of rage?
Why would we willingly subject ourselves to being constantly robbed of Joy?
@SW-User Rage is responsible for the majority of social change. Anger is a valuable tool when directed properly: it may raze an empire and re-build a church.

Sign of the times.
More folk are uptight than happy.
