I Stay Up Late

That reminded me of a time that my daughter came home in tears after a break up with a boyfriend. She was so upset and I remember it was around November time as there was a chill in the air. I went and got her coat, her gloves, a blanket and a hot chocolate and took her out in the garden. I wiped down the chairs that reclined backwards and told her to sit. We watched stars together, we talked, she cried for a while, I consoled but reassured her that she would be fine. She listened and realised that she was still the same person that she had been that morning, that life did go on and of course, she was fine. In later years, she told me that it had been just what she had needed and if she was ever in that situation with her own child, that she would do exactly the same thing.
