I Am In College

I am in Art School. We haven't actually been in college for a whole term but we still had lessons in Google Meet. Today is supposed to be the end of term. My bus pass finishes today except the last day I used it was 19th March. But we haven't had our marks for 2nd year yet and we still have lessons for at least the next two weeks. I really hope we can be back in college actually in September.

I'm a college professor. Distance learning has been less than ideal, for both students and teachers.

I teach mathematics, but during this past semester I often found myself wondering about art classes, and how they might get taught without an instructor in the room who wanders around giving feedback.

I hope things change in September as well.

@DrWatson Thank you. I do ceramics and jewellery. In March I brought home a sack of clay and copper plate to make jewellery and a jeweller's anvil and saw. I have made tiles and cut out brooch shapes but I can't solder pins on the brooches and I can't enamel them. I can't glaze tiles or fire them. I take pics of what I've done each day and share them with the lecturers. Thank you for being interested. Lili.

@LilirWyddfa It must be frustrating to take ceramics and jewelry classes and not have any finished ceramics or jewelry at the end! It must be like taking a baking class, and having nothing to show for it except pans of batter! 😄

@DrWatson That made me laugh! But it is like that. We get our marks next week but the teachers are going to mark us on what they know we would have done. But I do know I am starting my third year without the skills I should have acquired by now, e.g. enamelling. I should be quite skilled by now but it'll take til Christmas to get to that level.
