I Encountered a Ghostly Presence

I may or may not have over the years. When I was sixteen or seventeen my father and I went to a few cemeteries in the town of Andover, Maine. The last one we checked out I had an experience where I stepped past an elderly woman's grave, and I as I did I smelled perfume. It was very strong, like someone had just sprayed it in my face. I was not wearing perfume, my dad was not wearing cologne. I just thought it was very strange to smell perfume so strongly in the middle of a cemetery.

I thought I'd add that I discovered a site online that held compiled achieves of a combination of obituaries, all buried in that same cemetery. Back then I was doing a lot of genealogy projects. Sadly, I noticed that there are a significant amount of people interred there that died under unfortunate circumstances. Including victims of the 1918 influenza epidemic, along with many suicides, people that died in automobile accidents, or were struck during hit-and-runs, drowning victims, logging accidents, perished in a fire, and a young woman whom died after a rapture due to a tubal pregnancy during the 1930s. I'm assuming that a lot of death certificates were obtained because I have some records starting in the year 1914. They even state what they died of.

It's quite a list, isn't it? I'm just saying there would be no surprise if it's haunted.

Everybody says Salem, Massachusetts, the Witch City, is haunted. I did have an experience in the famous Old Burying Point Cemetery on Charter Street two or three years ago. I was looking at the seventeenth century stones and I noticed there was a piece of sea glass at the base of a grave. As I picked it up to look at it, I swear I heard what sounded like a growl or a snarl. It may have been all in my head, but I'm pretty sure I heard it. It stopped me in my tracks. Who knows?
