I Can Find Humor In Most Situations
Did you know that ants do not leave their dead and wounded on the battlefield?
This week I had to do battle with the ants outside my building. Not only did they find a way to sneak in, but they were ignoring my Executive Order regarding Social Distancing that forbid gatherings of more than two ants at one time. So I bought some ant traps, with bait that is supposed to attract them and let them live long enough to bring it back to the ant colony where it will kill more.
After 20 minutes the traps were filled with dead ants. But 24 hours later, every single ant was gone. Their comrades had braved death themselves to go into the ant traps and retrieve every single ant. That amazed me. It is courage like in the movies Saving Private Ryan and 1917.
I have a new-found respect for ants. I will call a ceasefire -- so long as they stay away from my snacks.
