Who's the most famous person named Jewel?

If you guessed the singer you would be wrong. It's James Best, the actor. His real name was Jewel F. Guy, and he appeared in so many TV shows and movies you'd be amazed. Here he is as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in The Dukes of Hazard.

I met him in Tennessee years ago. He was so nice to me. Gave me a really nice bag with a tshirt and an autographed picture.

@Fungirlmmm That's great!

@Nika2002 I've met several of them over the years and also the cast from Andy Griffith at Mayberry Days.
Does anyone under the age of 40 know him though? Jewel (the singer) has sold 30 million albums worldwide, has 4 Grammy nominations and is part of several large philanthropic projects. I think she's far more famous

@Qwerty14 James Best has probably had billions of views on TV and in movies. He starred alongside many iconic movie actors and appeared in a huge number of iconic TV series. He's easily the most famous Jewel of all time, if not currently the most easily recalled. People will be watching and discovering him long after the singer is forgotten.
@Nika2002 Not only do I disagree but I've asked a bunch of people I know (some as old as 65yo) and none of them knew who James Best was. All of them knew of Dukes of Hazard but none could name a character from the show. They couldn't even name the car. I think it's safe to say that in my country (or at least my circle) Best isn't a well known person at all.

@Qwerty14 If we go by name, then you're right. If we compare his face with her voice, then yes- he is better recognized thus more famous. I'm 18 and I can only recall one Jewel song: something about God on a bus.

Nika2002 · 22-25, F

Well it certainly wasn't my mean old great aunt, Jewel.
She looks like a girl I had crush on in college.and. she had the same rustic outdoor girl vibe..I asked her out..she said yes...then I flubbed it by saying I was going bring a friend along...she was insulted and cancelled...truth is I had such a crazy crush I felt intimidated being alone with her...I was a goofy 19 year old...
