I Am a Vegetarian

I've never been a big fan of meat to begin with though there were some things I really enjoyed.

My journey started about 10 years ago. I hit 230 lbs even with 'cutting back' and eating sad little portions of meat with my meals. My chol. was through the roof and my BP was borderline. My doc said I would have to take a statin for the rest of my life and possibly BP meds. That is when I decided.

In the first 2 years of being a vegetarian, I lost 40 lbs and my total triglycerides dropped 360 points. The following year, I was down to 180s, BP and CH were in acceptable levels. I maintained for the following 5 years at 175lbs. Didn't take one med. Didn't need to.

I got divorced in that time and out of a desire to keep things simple with my new girlfriend afterward, I started eating meat/dairy little by little again and sure enough, steadily went up in weight to 199. I have since gone back to veg for good. It seems to work for my body and I always felt better anyway. All the improvements had nothing to do with exorcise either. I changed nothing else in my life.

Stick with it if you are a vegetarian, if you're not. Try it. Couldn't hurt that's for sure.

I felt amazing , healthwise with a vegetarian lifestyle/beautiful skin, rosy cheeks and I guess it came from the feeling, I was doing no harm to any animal.

Congrats for making positive changes towards your health. I was a vegetarian for a little over five years but have been an omnivore recently.

I wrestle with the killing of animals. Could I personally do it at present? No! Could I watch? No!
Do I love animals, fowl, and fish? Yes!
