How do you remove a label from a wine bottle?

I am learning how to make glasses and vases out of my empty wine bottles. First, I need to know how to remove the wine labels. Then I need to figure out how to saw the bottles in half. What kind of saw?

Anyone ever done this?

Fill bottle with cold water and allow to soak in bowl of water until label peels off

You can buy a bottle cutting machine for around $30.00

Steam it off, or soak it in water it will peel off

I'm not experienced in sawing bottles in 2

To remove the label soak the bottle in water and add washing soda (the stuff that looks like baking soda, found in the laundry isle).
To cut the bottle soak a piece of string in acetone (nail polish remover). Place the string around the bottle (some say many times other's say once or twice). Light it on fire and turn the bottle so it burns all the way around. Plunge it into cold water and your bottle is cut.

@curiosi Thank you! This method doesn't even require a saw. I think I'll try it.

Hot water and then turpentine substitute.
