What’s a type of art you cannot understand?

4meAndyou · F
So-called "experience" art. I almost popped a blood vessel in my brain...from sheer disgust...when I saw a public television sponsored "artist" who was being paid to "teach" a group of teenagers about his "art". He was actually a con man, who had fooled people with a lot of money into allowing him to show his garbage on television.

The "art" he was demonstrating was so-called "found art". It was an enormous painters tarp he had found abandoned on the highway. After he found it, he ran over it several times with his truck. Then he took some very dirty, oily tires and ran over the tarp again, with those tires.

Then, he demonstrated this...junk...to a group of high school children who were saying things like, "Ewww. It really smells!"

I almost popped the blood vessel when he told them with a straight face that the awful odor...burnt rubber and exhaust...was part of the "art".

This guy was fat, stupid, smarmy, insincere on the best day of his life...and so obviously a con man with no ability to do any sort of real art...yet he had managed to convince a television station that he was the real thing. I still get angry thinking of the con.

They say that really good art is art that elicits an emotional response...but it was not his "art" that elicited my response. It was the stupidity of the people who actually bought his con, hook, line and sinker. And the fact that they were allowing this creep to "teach" this to children...
