Southern Hemisphere stargazers, what are some highlights of your beautiful southern sky?

Other than the obvious LMC, SMC, and Crux? I know of a handful of highlights, but I'm talking about sights for experienced stargazers. I just want to know what I should look for when in the Atacama desert. I'm planning my trip around July 11th to the 19th (with a stopover at Peru). IRDC for the daytime crap in the Atacama. I'm only interested in its night sky. What are some sights to see in the Southern Hemisphere sky, other than the obvious mentioned ones? Would I be able to see Andromeda from that latitude?
