the most valuable thing in a friendship is both trust and dependability. you should be able to trust in your friend and also have your friend be there for you (and vice versa) when you really need added support or encouragement. if you can't trust your friend, he or she is no better than any enemy you might have. If you can't depend on a friend, he or she might just as well not even exist.
