being open minded means you are willing to hear all sides, compromise, meet someone half way; that is NOT destructive. close mindedness and refusal to see anyone else's position can be destructive and damaging as well as deadly, too. It is a good thing when a group of people congregate together for the purpose of bridging a gap or drawing a conclusive finding. It is a good thing when people debate something, because it's through debate that others can consider factors that they might not have considered previously.
