I'm not sure actually about the magellanic clouds, I'll have to have a look when it's clear. We would never be able to see the Northern lights though. Hope you can, would be lovely. :-)

It occurs when there is a solar flare . according to http://solar-flares.info/ solar flare is active , therefore there is a chance to see the northern light today night .

this would be a perfect way to find them in advance of nightfall. if anyone out there sees some please note the day, time, and location.
