Was your mother motherly?

curiosi · 61-69, F
NEVER! She just died a few days ago and not one person has anything nice to say about her. It's really eerie as most don't speak ill of the dead, but they are saying how nasty she was. Wish I had that support while she was alive.
@curiosi That’s sad. My mom at least has a few fooled.

@NoGamesTolerated I almost feel sorry for her then I remind myself she chose to be nasty. Been really wierd.
@curiosi I’m sorry to hear she passed away but it’s even sadder that she had no friends.
Not at all. My dad had to assume the mother role in terms of affection, school functions, and most everything else. My mom was mostly about fashion and her ladies clubs, volunteering, etc.

As long as we did her bidding. It's easy to have a devoted child.
Once we hit puberty and she could no longer control us, she wasn't motherly at all.

Does being yelled at for being stupid, fat, and lazy on a near-daily basis count?

Only to toddlers. Once a kid turned 5, they were on their own.

Still is, I have to report in whether I was good or not on my computer. But in her defense I was looking at porn and other bad stuff. Too curious.
