when your day goes dim
when you lose that whim
when you hear that hymn
when you can no longer swim


when the sadness comes
when your soul succumbs
when the last note strums
when the total sums


when the air goes out
when you feel the doubt
when the screams won't shout
when the page turns about


when it all falls down
when the smile's a frown
when the emotions drown
