I Like to Go to the Gym

every time I go to the gym, I usually do H.I.T's at the gym doing as much as I can in 30 min and I get super sore after which is good, but when people say oh, you will be sore the day after being at the gym, but that only happened twice to me even towards the beginning of going to the gym I've never really felt the pain the next day. am I doing something wrong, or doing too little? or not going long enough?
