What is the worst book you have read?

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett is mine
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
The Holy Bible, too many plot holes and unbelievable occurrences.

@SW-User most were ok, just weird little old ladies married to god.
@FreeSpirit1 Just like textbooks?
TheThinker · 56-60, M
@FreeSpirit1 No, you spending eight years at Catholic School. 😂

Probably a few contenders but the first one that comes to mind is Eternity by Greg Bear.

The first book in that series, Eon, was an absolute masterpiece. Couldn't put it down, devoured it over two days one summer holiday, and there's a line in the middle that put all the hairs up on the back of my neck (if you've read it, you'll know it).

The sequel was just some lame-arse bollocks that it took me about four attempts to give up on. Dreadful dreadful shite.

I believe there may be further sequels. I haven't read them.

The railway children.

Good god I was quite literally forced to read it under threat of an ass whooping. I have no idea to this day why I had to read it.

It was the most utterly pointless shit I've ever read. So boring that it gave me headaches.
@Eternity I love that book 😖
Eternity · 26-30, M
@InOtterWords I bet you like black licorice and being caught in traffic too.
@Eternity I love black liquorice....but no one likes traffic

The Swarm by Frank Schätzing. It was so boring that I wanted to do anything else in the world...I would have welcomed scraping out my oven and cleaning that instead of reading that godforsaken book!
I don't even know how someone can make a piece of literature THAT lame! 😐
SW-User
@PavlovsPuppy sounds hideous lol

@SW-User Here's the description that I read that led me to buy this garbage:
"Whales begin sinking ships. Toxic, eyeless crabs poison Long Island's water supply. The North Sea shelf collapses, killing thousands in Europe. Around the world, countries are beginning to feel the effects of the ocean's revenge as the seas and their inhabitants begin a violent revolution against mankind. At stake is the survival of the Earth's fragile ecology—and ultimately, the survival of the human race itself.
The apocalyptic catastrophes of The Day After Tomorrow meet the watery menace of The Abyss in this gripping, scientifically realistic, and utterly imaginative thriller."
Sounds cool, right? Definitely not.
I don't know what the author did, but it was so horrible and dry. I'm not one to abandon books half-way in, but with this one, I would've seriously have had a root canal done instead of reading it to the end! 😄

Fifty shades

I didn't even finish it
SW-User
@InOtterWords no, if I start a book I will finish it even if I hate it
@SW-User I don't.

You know I was in a book shop the other day, running my hand across the spines of all these stories that I will never get to read.

Life is too short to read a book you are not loving
SW-User
@InOtterWords Very true
