Read it 3 flipping times, seen varied movies of it more times than i wished.
It's horrible!
Romeo is just a typical Horny boy
Juliet is incredibly stupid
And both families are conceited and selfish...and flipping up them selves!!!
Shakespear wrote 30 something plays....more than half of them were comedies (17 comes to Mind).... The rest were tragedies, romance and historical pieces.
Yet goddamned Romeo and Juliet keeps rearing it ugly head all the time!!!

I think they're hoping we all assume they both knew they were each others special "the one!" Age, social class, family difference created the inevitable barrier leading them to take drastic measures. At that particular time women and men didnt live as long also children didnt always make it past certain ages, so they dated younger for an extended period of baby making time with a healthy woman.

@SW-User That's not really that weird or big of an age gap. A thirteen-year-old girl in my martial arts class growing up was dating a seventeen-year-old from her church, and the relationship was perfectly healthy.
