What was the last book that you read? And was it also the last book that you enjoyed?

Escape From Freedom -Erich Fromm. People have been so easy to give up freedom and decision making.

@helenS It's not frowning upon mass movements per se, only an insight as to why they happen and gain adherents. That said, it looks more at destructive groups.

@SheikYerbouti Briefly, in my opinion, mass movements are bad if they are authoritarian. They appear to be "democratic" just because they have plenty of followers.

@helenS They start off as a reaction to the status quo. But, they either become noble or corrupt as they gain acceptance. Bolshevik and the American Revolution had similar beginnings, totally different conclusions.

Wuthering Heights was the last I finished. I liked the way it was written more than the story itself. Before that was Jane Eyre which I loved. And I’m enjoying the current Mrs. Sherlock Holmes so far.

@LittleBlueAngelBoy wuthering heights?
Yeah.
JustNik · 51-55, F
@LittleBlueAngelBoy Many do, which is why I was curious enough to read it. 🙂

The last one I finished was, "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley and I loved it. I am now reading "The Brothers Karamazov" by Fydor Dostoevsky.

Last one i finished was The Temptation to Exist, i only read books i love, they're re-readable, finishing these books isn't the point for me, but to savor them .... Robert Musil's Man Without Qualities is one i'm going through slowly, and even when and if i finish it, i won't really as Robert died before finishing it.

"Italian Opera", by David Kimbell. I like the book very much because it is highly informative, especially about the early Italian opera period.
