Does anyone know if you're banned from advertising on here?

Term of Services clearly prohibit commercial uses, but there's been some popular people advertising commercial services on the site nevertheless. I have mixed feelings on this, speaking as a user I'd hate if we started getting regular commercial advertisements on to of everything else.

And while it's one way, I certainly don't encourage deceptive posts or private mail spamming, as both would be likely to just alienate people in already over-saturated market. Depending on the publishing arrangement you have, I'm sure you could get away with posting writing samples/quotes with a discreet link to website, and similar audience-engaging non-deceptive strategies.

I tried it with some e-books a long time ago, I was told I couldn't do it so I haven't since. You can post all the pee and poop stories you want, but they don't like you posting anything of literary value.

I’m thinking it would get flagged as “Spam or commercial post.” I’d PM Admin with the question.

A friend of mine got suspended for advertising something on here (not a book, but something else), so I'm pretty sure that it's against the rules to advertise on here.

I would say yes, it's considered spam.

I tried to do that with one of my books a year or so ago. Someone said they reported me, but nothing ever came of it, so I'm not actually sure if we are or not.

Yeah, you can't spam. You can buy advertising though.

Just do it until you get a warning
