I'm planning on re-reading A Canticle for Leibowitz. It seems appropriate for these times.
@SW-User what is it about?
SW-User
It is a post apocalyptic tale of nuclear war and the cyclical nature of man.
@SW-User i wouldn't want to read that. i've been too anxious for that sort of book lately.

@AliceinWonderland I'm a convert to high fat, low carb. I go to the VA every year for a physical, and they can't find anything wrong with my blood work.
@Sourdad that's awesome! :O

@AliceinWonderland I wish I learned this stuff years ago. I wouldn't be having to lose weight.

I don't think I've read an entire book since college.
Correction: even back then i used cliff notes

@GBPackersFan I understand. It's something you either enjoy or you don't. I also love watching TV.
GBPackersFan · M
I'm closed minded when it comes to TV watching . 95% of what I watch is sports the other 5% is Married With Children reruns
psx550 · 61-69, F
@GBPackersFan I love watching college basketball and football, golf, and baseball. I also watch many series...Game of Thrones, Criminal Minds, Law and Order SVU, Big Bang Theory to name a few.

I'm reading an old book that I've already read.
Spoiledbrat · F
I tried to read that book but I didn't have the patience for it. @Sourdad
Sourdad · 56-60, M
@Spoiledbrat That's OK. It's a long and complicated book. I prefer the audible version. It's really good as an audiobook.
Spoiledbrat · F
Thanks, maybe I'll give it a try. 🙂 @Sourdad

I'm reading Reductionism in Art and Brain Science by Eric Kandel and The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan. :)
@SW-User oh! she did the joy luck club! that movie made me cry. i bet that would be a good book to read too. what is reductionism in art about?
SW-User
@AliceinWonderland Yeah, The Joy Luck Club was great. That's what I read first. And the other is essentially about how the brain processes modern art :)

I am reading The Dark Tower by Stephen King and Anne Boleyn: A King's Obsession,
@psx550 are you reading the dark tower before you see the movie or did you see the movie and it made you want to read the book?
psx550 · 61-69, F
I haven't seen the movie. I just seemed to miss starting this series. The movie prompted me to give it a try.

I am also waiting patiently for Tool of War by Paolo Bacigalupi to be released in October.

Lots at a time always, latest addition to the mix, Hermann Melville's Pierre, or the Ambiguities.
psx550 · 61-69, F
Of all the Stephen King books my favorites are It and The Stand.
@psx550 It is the book i had to stop reading. when the boy is reading the book and the book becomes alive, that part scared me. lol i was too chicken to read it, but i read carrie and that was good. it was really sad.
