Yeah don't go, I'm American myself and we're backwards in a lot of ways. However, we need people that will fight tooth and nail back at ignorant people instead of leaving. So stay, we need more of you and not less.

Nooooo! Don't go! This site tends to attract the ultra conservative parts of our country.
But I do understand what you go through. I live in a very conservative area and can't really voice my opinion without starting fights. But yes I'm one of those that want universal Healthcare too. And I hate confrontation.
From what I have seen the issue seems to be mainly two things. One misinformation. People are terrified they will lose there Healthcare if universal is put in place. And two is money. No one wants to pay for universal Healthcare through any type of tax. Which is stupid cause we pay much more to for profit insurance companies.
But no one thinks too deeply in order to analyze things. There is a strong anti-intellectual bias in the country. So that creates people that hate thinking and a mistrust of people that hate those that do have knowledge.
But don't let the assholes drive you off. We all have to fight these idiots in every society. They can not be allowed to rule over us.
