I Survived the Worst of Ptsd

When I first acquired PTSD, I had flashbacks all day long, and even when I would attempt to sleep, the flashbacks were in my dreams as nightmares. That helacious period lasted almost 3 years, and looking back now, I can see how far I've come.
Oh honey, that’s awful. I’m so sorry for all you’ve endured. I’m proud of you for making it though. I understand, as I had it, too. 🤗

I was diagnosed with PTSD when I was 14. I acquired it as a result of the sudden death of my dad 2 years earlier

@SW-User Of course! And if you ever need a hug, lemme know. I'm a good hugger, LOL!!

I’m really sorry you went through that.

@Silentcry For a while I was too, but then I realized that it made me stronger. I think of it as a test, and I passed with flying colors, LOL!!
(((Hugs))) I'm so proud of you!
@PeanutsauntieP1982 awwwwww..good way to begin one. 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Yep. This one time I had walked over to my friends apartment complex (I needed someone to talk to), only to find she wasn't home. So one of her neighbors noticed how downcast I looked and said "You look like you need a hug. May I give you a hug?" Of course I said yes, and then after the hug, I thought "Ya know, if I don't make friends with this guy, I'm an idiot!" 3 years later we're still friends, and if I need a hug, he'll still give me one.
@PeanutsauntieP1982 awwwwww.. that's wonderful!

@Funlover103 How're you?
lostforwords · 22-25, M
What did you do to get better? Nothing has worked for me.
PeanutsauntieP1982 · 41-45, F
@lostforwords I t started when I met someone who had been through what I had, waking up during surgery, only she'd woken up half a dozen times. After she challenged me to educate the general public about Anesthesia Awareness, and made me make a promise to never shut up about what happened to me, that's when my recovery started. I think getting out of my head, and helping prevent others from going through what I did has helped me to take back the control I lost. So maybe you should try reaching out to others too. Ultimately, what almost killed me gave my life a new and better purpose.

My issues are really hard to talk about . i'm glad you made a positive out of the negative.

PeanutsauntieP1982 · 41-45, F
@firefall Ain't that the truth!!
IAMMONARAHIMI · 36-40, F
do you mind me asking what happened?
PeanutsauntieP1982 · 41-45, F
@IAMMONARAHIMI I woke up during surgery. I was awake for 30 minutes of a 45 minute surgery, and no one knew I was awake. I could hear and feel everything, I just couldn't move because of the neuromuscular paralytic that I'd been given prior to surgery. It was my personal hell.
IAMMONARAHIMI · 36-40, F
@PeanutsauntieP1982 but you didn't feel anything, pain?
PeanutsauntieP1982 · 41-45, F
I could feel and hear everything, every minute of the surgery was agony. And even though the pain was horrible, the worst thing to me was the damn breathing tube in my throat.
Mmiker · 46-50, M
What was your PTSD from
PeanutsauntieP1982 · 41-45, F
@Mmiker I woke up during surgery ten years ago.
